Captivating Arrangements that Delight Audiences AND Musicians
NEW: Cinematic Hybrid Orchestra Series
Ramp up your orchestra concerts with a bit of tech
Nathan Hofheins is known for his creative and innovative arrangements of common tunes and compositions. He is also a prolific composer of hybrid orchestral music: orchestral compositions using traditional orchestral instruments alongside electronic and non-orchestral instruments.
The Cinematic Hybrid Orchestra Series provides the opportunity for orchestras to ramp up their concerts with the addition of these non-traditional instruments to be performed live with a bit of technology: a P.A. system and as little as a phone. As a conductor you have complete control over the balance of the pre-recorded tracks in order to create a captivating blend of live performers and pre-recorded elements that breathes new life into your orchestral performances.
“The audiences really enjoyed the hybrid program and thought it was very innovative. Funny how several people were wondering if the orchestra was singing since they obviously didn’t see a choir but heard voices. I think the orchestra was a little unsure at first at the start of the rehearsals, but by the performance, many of them shared with me how unique it was and they thought it was a really cool program. ”
Many of the pieces in the Cinematic Hybrid Orchestra Series are derived from well-known classical works originally composed for piano, creatively arranged and re-imagined for the hybrid orchestra.

Hunt for Pierre by Nathan Hofheins - Performed by high school students at BYU’s Young Musician’s Summer Festival
Nathan Hofheins takes the studio podium and shepherds a group of talented high school students in recording “Hunt for Pierre” during a week-long summer workshop at Brigham Young University. Many of the students had not ever before set foot in a recording studio with zero experience recording. They were all sight-reading the music, playing to pre-recorded, synthesized tracks and click, and were in different locations depending on the orchestral section in which they were playing. All were connected with realtime video and audio.
Hunt for Pierre was composed by Nathan Hofheins and appears on the Warner/Chappell Production Music Library. It is now available as part of the Cinematic Hybrid Orchestra Series.
